
Afetsi Awoonor
Afetsi Awoonor is the Regional Sales and Marketing Manager of Adelanto Oil. He has experience in public-private partnership transactions, turnkey projects, commercial infrastructure management and energy and defence technology projects.
Afetsi Awoonor has over a decade’s experience leading multicultural and multilingual teams across Africa in the structuring, negotiation and implementation of energy and defence technology projects in Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, South Sudan, Nigeria, South Africa, Sao Tome & Principe, Cameroon, Uganda, Congo and other Sub-Saharan countries. He is currently the Regional Sales & Marketing Manager of Adelanto Oil, the marketing and logistics arm of Convenio Energy, a pan African oil-trading firm. Adelanto Oil is a major oil & gas marketing and operation services company.
Having founded and run a start-up defense and energy tech company, JBW Limited (of which he now chairs the Board), to become an active SME operating out of Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone, he has experience in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) transactions, turnkey projects and the management of commercial infrastructure. Prior to his current role, Afetsi was the Government Relations Manager for Ghana’s national Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), a role in which he led the company’s government affairs, activities and joint initiatives with other state-owned institutions such as the Ministry of Petroleum, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Finance, the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) and Ghana Oil Company (GOIL).
Afetsi has a dual Master’s in Oil & Gas Management from The Graduate Institute of International & Development Studies Geneva, Switzerland, and the IFP School Ruel Malmaison, France, on a full scholarship from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and a PhD (in view) in Business Administration from Geneva Business School.. He is also actively involved in charity as a Project Director for Water for Humanity, a non-profit focused on providing solar powered mechanized borehole solutions for water for rural locations in Ghana, as well as a Festival Director for Storymoja Ghana, an African literary festival that hosts an annual event in Nairobi and Ghana to provide a platform for creative writers to harness, share and promote their pieces with seasoned professionals. In 2019, Afetsi became a member of the Shared Value Africa Initiative Africa Council of 8.
